How can I be more of a friend rather than an acquaintance?

I sit next to her in my art design cl. One day she forgot her supplies (paper, brushes, paint, and palette paper) so I lent her a few and by the next cl she promptly paid me back though I never asked to be. She seemed a little bit shy at first then she would tap me as she came in to cl to say hello and bye but besides the occasional smile that's as far as our interaction in cl goes. Is there anything I can do or say so we (she) would talk more?
