How do Christians justify war?

I cannot justify war. My faith involves vital Christian doctrine that includes the Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Now, with that said, there are religions and denominations that come to whatever conclusions that they may deem to be necessary as a reason to support a war. I haven't seen anything to support those conclusions in the New Testament.
